The story of my record is told in a couple of words: well.....listen, I try to tell you: I was at a talent contest in '58 singin Ready Teddy or something like that. Discjockey Jim Hawthorne called me afterwards to visit cause he wanted me to play leadguitar for a black vocal group. I said "yeah ok" and joined them days after. I was never been in a record studio before.Never even seen one. I don't remember their name. They were sorta acompanying themselves beating on tempo blocks and anything that happenend to be in the studio.then he says: "what are you gonna to do" ? and I said "What?! Huuh?! " He says: "Yeah, what are you gonna sing?" I was totally unprepared for this !! So he proposed me to sing something I like and Honey Don't was the first thing that popped into my head. So I sang that one. So we played it once and the guy says: That's the take !! No stories here, that's true, man !! At that point in my life, I didn't even know, what that means. After that, he says: Look, do anything you wrote ! Good joke here, I never wrote any music or track before.. "Why doncha just make something up and we'll tape it"? he says. An I says ok. So he says: How bout Your gone or something like that? And I says: Can i do something like just you're gone I'm left you're gone I'm left and over and over? So we did that!! Just me and my guitar and those black guys beating on everything that was around. That's the story. I never had a Band or something. Just this session. Not really spectacular!! lol
